Baku

Where the party's at
Baku

After having a surprising good nightsleep on the train we arrived in the capital of Azerbaijan and after dumping our bags off at a cheap (but clean!) hotel, we decided to explore the city.
Thankfully the temperature was a bit cooler than Tbilisi, but still very hot.

The 'Old City' gates of Baku.

The Old City
Seafront with a HUGE Azeri flag on the peninsula!
Busy central Baku in the evening when the temperature is much more bearable!
The ''James Bond'' Oil Field. Remember the opening scene of ''The World is not Enough''? Yep, filmed right here!

We finished our all too brief stay in Baku by sampling the local vodka and Sisha before our attempt at catching the schedule-less boat from Baku to Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan.

Despite hearing a lot of positive things about the nightlife of Baku, we found it impossible to find a 'club' or bar without prostitutes in it!

But it is a city that seems to be changing quite quickly, the amount of money being pumped into the city is quite obvious to see in various places along the sea front. We only wished we could have seen what the rest of Azerbaijan looked like!
